Amy Denton Harris Leads SRBP Subchapter V Practice – as Trustee, as Debtor’s Counsel, and as Lecturer – September 2021

In February 2020, the Office of the United States Trustee appointed shareholder Amy Denton Harris to serve as a Subchapter V Trustee in small business cases filed under the Small Business Reorganization Act of 2019.  Absent the COVID-related legislation raising the debt ceiling in Sub-V cases to $7.5 million, many of these cases would have been filed as traditional mid-size Chapter 11 cases. Between February 2020 and August 2021, of the 180 Subchapter V cases filed in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida (the most of any district in the country), 34 have been assigned to Ms. Harris. Ms. Harris is also active in the representation of clients in Subchapter V cases, filing, for example, cases for Soto’s Auto & Truck Repairs Service, Inc., a family-owned diesel truck repair company headquartered in Tampa, Florida.  Selected other representations appear in other news items as do Ms. Harris’s speaking engagements.
