Don M. Stichter

Don
M. Stichter was born in Toledo, Ohio. Mr. Stichter was
admitted to the bar in Wisconsin in 1957, in the District
of Columbia and Ohio in 1958, and in Florida in 1960.
He graduated from Colgate University, B.A. 1951, and the
University of Wisconsin, LL.B. 1957 (Order of the Coif),
where he was a member of the Editorial Board of the University
of Wisconsin Law Review. Prior to entering private practice,
he served with the United States Department of Justice
in the Antitrust Division in Washington, DC and as an
Assistant United States Attorney in Tampa. He served as
the President of the Hillsborough County Bar Association
in 1972-73 and was honored as the outstanding local bar
president by The Florida Bar. He was a founder and the
first president and chairman of the Tampa Bay Bankruptcy
Bar Association, was chairman of the Thirteenth Circuit
Judicial Nominating Committee, and served as Chairman
of the Hillsborough County Law Library Board. He was one
of the first three Florida lawyers selected to be a Fellow
of the American College of Bankruptcy. He has been listed
in each edition of the Best Lawyers in America since 1989,
and was listed as one of the premier insolvency lawyers
in Florida in all editions of "Best Business Lawyers
in the United States", published by Chambers and Partners. In 2001, he was named Outstanding
Lawyer in Hillsborough County by the Hillsborough County
Bar Association. He has co-authored publications on bankruptcy
law for The Florida Bar and has spoken on bankruptcy law
topics at seminars and programs sponsored by The Florida
Bar and other legal and business groups. He was the initial
recipient of the Tampa Bay Bankruptcy Bar Association's
Doug McClurg Award, an award which recognizes an individual
for outstanding advocacy, professionalism and service
to the bar. He has headed the firm's representation in
Hillsborough Holdings, Anthony Distributors, Anthony Distributing
Company, Silk Greenhouse, Frank Morsani, Uiterwyk, Gulf
Tampa Drydock, Irwin Yacht, The Shell Factory, Sunstate
Dairy, Trident Shipworks, and numerous other cases. His
memberships also include the American Bar Association,
The Florida Bar, the Tampa Bay Bankruptcy Bar Association,
the American Bankruptcy Institute, and the American College
of Bankruptcy.
